We all know that computers, cellphones, TV, and a stationary lifestyle are detrimental to our posture. There are now many solutions invented to help us return to a “pre-screen-time” state. These inventions are needed because, for most of us, living without technology is not an option.
These include, buzzers that remind you to stop slouching over, special work-desks that convert from sitting to standing, devices to hold your screens ergonomically, and the list goes on.
There isn’t one right solution to increasing body awareness and improving posture. That depends on many factors such as lifestyle and body structure. But the motivation to do something about it will get the fastest results 🙂
Good posture has the following health benefits:
- Better breathing: Your lungs and diaphragm can expand to their full range of motion, bringing in more of the essential oxygen your brain and vital organs need.
- Reduction in overuse/strain of muscles: In other words, reduced shoulder, back, and neck pain.
- Better digestion: Slouching distributes an unhealthy pressure on your intestines. This inhibits the space and movement needed for blood and lymph to circulate, as well as for food products to push through.
- Alleviates tension headaches: Having your head nicely balanced over your thorax eliminates the harmful strain patterns of your body’s fascial chains. This strain constricts muscles and vessels that go up to your skull and can result in nagging pain.
I have a huge passion for posture and alignment and I’m well equipped to find your individualised solution to get you feeling stronger, taller, and looking over new horizons.
